How to Get Oracle Certification

Published on 01/12,2009

After working a few years as an Oracle database engineer you probably have acquired enough knowledge and skills to get certified. Put that expertise to work and expand your options for better jobs and higher pay.

  1. Plan your career track by choosing the Oracle certifications in an area that interests you. Certifications range from Associate to Master. Oracle offers certification in more than a hundred software, hardware, database (like 1z0-043, 1z0-007) and support areas.
  2. Contact your human resources department to inquire about training programs, financial assistance or other benefits. Pay attention to corporate requirements to expedite reimbursement.
  3. Sign up for required classes at a local technical school or community college. Certification tests take place in the same schools. Most certifications do not require classroom time, but a working knowledge of Oracle is necessary.
  4. Read manuals and publications related to your chosen certification path. Form a study group with other students. Discuss the preparation materials provided when you sign up to take the test.
  5. Take the test at the location and time provided when you sign up. Tests are multiple choice, blank fill-ins and matched-set questions. Guess at answers you don't know. Incomplete answers are marked as incorrect.
